Expensive but lacking in amenities

For the cost of the hotel, I expect high quality, but it was twice the cost of the pension I stayed in here in Primorsko last year and has half-board which is good/great, but the WIFI is slow at 3 AM - worse in the afternoon - and there is no A/C or fan in the room. If there was a decent shop in the area, I'd buy my own fan and leave the damned thing.
The staff are fine, but there is a very loose sense of responsibility on the part of A***** Tour - basically, try reception. Reception is very nice, but the solution for a leaking toilet (supposedly condensation) is not more towels. The fridge door is broken - drinks fall out, cleaning glass off the floor in the middle of the night is not my idea of a relaxing holiday - and not even the balcony door works - and with no A/C one NEEDS the bloody door open! This is a holiday for large families who want to lay at the pool. A***** has free sun umbrellas, but you still pay for the beach chairs and so it is 10 lev instead of 14 lev, not much of a savings at the sea when you can buy some equipment for the week. The offer SOUNDS great, but the reality is worse than K******. Wow!

Room on the south side - in the sun from 10-18, so hot until midnight - well, too hot to sleep, you wake up at 3 AM in a bed wet from sweat. Broken door on the fridge, so no drinks can be kept there, balcony door broken so one small window for air. Leaking toilet, so wet feet if you make a toilet trip... How has this improved from the old shower with a hole in the floor? Now, we have a bathtub and water gathering in the middle of the floor anyway and no hole to take away the water...
Strava a stravování
Food and drinks are OK - breakfast and dinner in half-board mode are fine. Restaurants can be better and so lunches are the time for eating well.
As half-board one expects drinks included in the price, but they are not. Lev 1.50 for Fanta etc at dinner, The table wine is drinkable. About Lev 5 per half liter.
Vybavení, služby a personál hotelu
The people are fine and trying hard. It is clean and they are working all the time. Reception is also working hard. The hotel needs a thorough refurbishment with the addition of A/Cs in every room for a fee. (Again broken door to the balcony and fridge, water in the floor in the bathroom) At the very least, they need fans installed. This is sub-Honduras 1980s level accommodation :-( Unbelievable for the European Union in 2016 at over $1500 for 12 days.
Pláž a moře
Decent and not too far, the steps are hard on older people or people with an achilles injury from this year (me).
Okolí hotelu
Lots of tiny overpriced shops. Some decent restaurants, lots of bad restaurants. Prices are OK, but seafood is expensive - even compared to Spain or Greece this summer. Wow... Octopus is 50% more expensive than it was on Rhodes last month and 33% higher than on Costa Bravo in early July. Sorry, but when Rhodes becomes a cheaper vacation than Bulgaria, there is a problem. But you can stick to pastries and fried chicken - schnitzel - and come out OK. But then you lose the culinary aspect of your vacation.
Celkový dojem
We loved Primorsko last year with the small pension and A/C, great WIFI. Paying in November for 2x the price at the 2nd best hotel in the town, we assumed a great stay. The food is terrific, the staff is trying but the facilities are outdated and far below the standard expected in the EU in 2016.
